Some questions I've gotten from customers:
What are head pins and eye pins used for? Head pins usually have a bottom stopper to them. Most are pre manufactured with a flat bottom. This stops the beads from falling off the head pin. Eye pins are the same way except eye pins have a loop on them. Some of my handmade eye pins have multiple loops for handing more than one bead from the bottom and these make beautiful chandalier earrings or necklaces.
What type of metal are they made from? Head pins and eye pins are generally made from brass or nickle. Many of the brass are plated with either 14K Gold plate or Silver plated. Some are made from Rhodium or Nickel. Nickel is fine for something that won't be directly touching the body like earrings but since many people have a nickel allergy be sure to use a metal like a Gold plated copper or Silver plated copper or brass wire to avoid any reactions. Most people do not react to that. Copper is also used however in the ear, unless coated with a nailpolish type substance it can cause your ear to have a bit of a blackness due to the reaction of copper with our skin. It's a normal thing and won't cause harm but some people do not like that at all.
